While the engagement potential of newsgames is massive, Indian media houses face a critical hurdle: the need for dedicated coding skills. Experts warn that poorly designed games can detract from the story rather than enhance it. Although open-source tools like Twine and Newsgamer have lowered the barrier to entry for scripting, they still require customization and integration into content management systems.

The Bharat Media Association urges media conglomerates to invest in hybrid tech-editorial teams, partnering journalists with skilled developers to produce seamless interactive content.
