Breaking | NHRC Takes Cognizance of Journalist Assaults in Tripura

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of recent reports of attacks on journalists in Tripura, following incidents on September 21, 2025.
According to reports, one journalist was assaulted and robbed while covering a political event in West Tripura, while another journalist and four political workers were injured in related clashes.
Taking note of the threat to press freedom and journalist safety, the NHRC has issued notices to the Director General of Police, seeking a detailed report within two weeks.
