Deportation Pushback: Muslims Detained, Many Sent to Bangladesh
Assam-Between May and July, around 1,880 people. mostly from Muslim communities in Gujarat and Assam were detained without proper legal procedures and forcibly sent to Bangladesh. Disturbingly, some of them reportedly had valid Indian documents but were still denied recognition as citizens. Witness accounts describe physical abuse, blindfolding, and abandonment at border areas.
This situation highlights serious concerns over due process, the safeguarding of citizenship rights, and compliance with both national and international legal standards.
