Gamifying the Gig Economy: Empathy Through Play

0
316

To highlight the struggles of the gig economy, investigative newsrooms are launching immersive 'newsgames'. Taking inspiration from the Financial Times' highly successful Uber Game, which placed readers behind the wheel of a driver trying to make a living, Indian media is adopting similar tactics.

The Bharat Media Association supports this evolution. By forcing users to make difficult financial choices between fuel costs and family needs, gamified reporting activates deep empathy and bypasses passive reading.
