Fake Credentials: The Danger of Misused Press Badges
In conflict-heavy regions like Manipur, unregistered entities and potential traffickers are increasingly misusing vehicle stickers and jackets bearing the word "Press" to bypass security. This rampant impersonation endangers the lives of genuine field reporters and severely damages media credibility.
The Bharat Media Association urges authorities to enforce strict verification of identity cards issued by recognized media organizations. Protecting the sanctity of press credentials is vital to ensure that verified journalists can safely access incident spots without facing unwarranted blanket suspicion.
