Local News At Risk: The Chilling Echo Chamber Threat

In Dimapur, Henlly Phom Odyuo, President of the Dimapur Press Club, recently sounded an alarm about the state of hard-hitting investigative journalism. He noted that a crippling lack of funding, combined with a very real fear of backlash from political or tribal groups, is choking critical reporting.

Without independent resources, Odyuo warns, local media risks becoming a reactive 'echo chamber' rather than a proactive watchdog. At Bharataawaz, we must ask ourselves: are we effectively breaking free from this constraint, or are we being silently coerced?
