In a powerful appeal for global press freedom, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have urged the EU to protect journalists worldwide from assassination, imprisonment, and intimidation.“When truth-tellers are silenced, democracy fades,” lawmakers warned, calling journalists the guardians of truth who deserve protection, not persecution.
From war zones to political frontlines, reporters continue to risk their lives to expose injustice. The EU, MEPs said, must stand as a shield for those who defend truth because saving journalists is saving democracy itself.
