In a quiet village named Dhalabari in West Bengal, far from the headlines and far from any hospital, lives a man who has quietly rewritten the meaning of service.

Not a Doctor.
Not a Politician.
Not a Celebrity.
Just a Tea Garden Worker with a Bike… and a Mission.

His name is Karimul Haque, but to thousands of villagers, he’s lovingly called:
"Bike Ambulance Dada."

The Day That Changed His Life

Years ago, Karimul’s mother fell seriously ill in the middle of the night.

There was no ambulance.
No hospital nearby.
No phone. No help.
Only a son — desperately trying to save his mother.

He lifted her onto his back, running through the dark roads toward help…
But it was too late.
She passed away — not because of her illness, but because help couldn’t reach her in time.

That night, Karimul made a vow.

“No one should die like this again. Not if I can help it.”

The Birth of the Bike Ambulance

With no resources, he turned the only thing he had — his motorcycle — into an ambulance.

He fitted a stretcher on the back.
Added ropes, blankets, and support.
And began responding to every call, every cry, every knock on his door — day or night.

He didn't wait for permission.
He didn’t wait for the government.
He became the system that people needed.

Over 5,000 Lives and Counting…

In the last two decades, Karimul has helped transport over 5,000 patients — completely free of cost.

  • Tribals bitten by snakes

  • Mothers in labor

  • Elders needing urgent care

  • Children gasping for breath

He rode through forests, muddy roads, hilly paths — in the rain, in the cold, sometimes even putting his own life at risk.

He became the first responder, driver, attender, and sometimes the only ray of hope.

A Real Padma Hero

In 2017, the Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri, one of the highest civilian honors.

But when asked about it, he smiled and said:

“I didn’t start this for an award. I just didn’t want anyone else to feel helpless the way I did.”

Beyond Ambulance Work

Karimul also started:

  • A first-aid training center in his village

  • Health awareness camps for remote tribal areas

  • A team of local volunteers who help him reach deeper into the forests

All of this, powered by pure humanity.

Why This Story Matters

In a world where we wait for systems to change,
Karimul became the change.

In a country of 1.4 billion, he’s a reminder that one person’s courage can become a lifeline for thousands.

He is not famous.
He never demanded the spotlight.
Yet his actions echo across lives and generations.

Salute to the Real Hero

So, the next time you feel powerless, remember Karimul Haque.
The man who turned grief into hope.
The worker who became a lifesaver.
The common man who became uncommon through compassion.
