TN Welfare Win: CM Hikes Journalist Pensions in 2026
In a significant victory for media welfare, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced a substantial hike in journalist pensions in March 2026. The monthly pension for retired journalists was increased from ₹12,000 to ₹15,000, while family pensions rose from ₹6,000 to ₹7,500.
The Bharat Media Association applauds this progressive move. Ensuring financial dignity for aging media professionals who dedicated their lives to public service sets a benchmark that all other Indian states must immediately follow to protect the vulnerable gig workers of the press.
