Indian media companies have initiated landmark lawsuits against AI giants for the unlicensed scraping, storing, and reproducing of news articles to train generative models. The Digital News Publishers Association warned the courts that if this intellectual property theft continues without fair compensation, digital news could disappear entirely, leaving only automated chatbots.
The Bharat Media Association stands with these publishers. AI companies cannot be allowed to build multi-billion dollar ecosystems by freely cannibalizing the hard work, investment, and copyright of the Indian press.
