In January 2026, a Zee 24 Ghanta reporter and her cameraman were brutally attacked by a mob while covering protests in Beldanga, West Bengal. Protesters grabbed the reporter and severely beat the cameraperson, causing head injuries that required immediate hospitalization. The mob deliberately attempted to snatch their recording equipment to prevent coverage.
BMA strongly condemns this horrific violence, emphasizing that targeting field crews simply for doing their jobs is a direct assault on the public's fundamental right to be informed about local unrest.
