A video featuring Shradha Sharma, founder of YourStory, went viral after she shared her humiliating experience at a Taj Hotel restaurant.

She said that while dining, a staff member asked her not to sit cross-legged (Padmasana style), claiming it made other guests uncomfortable. Sharma called the incident insulting, saying it reflected class discrimination where even paying customers are judged for how they sit.

The video sparked a nationwide debate with some supporting Sharma’s right to personal comfort, while others defended the hotel’s fine dining etiquette standards.

So far, Taj Hotels have not issued any official statement, but the incident has opened a wider discussion about comfort vs. conduct, class sensitivity, and personal freedom in elite spaces.
