2020 was a year of economic, political, and social crises in India — from CAA-NRC-NPR controversies and the North-East Delhi riots to the COVID-19 pandemic and farmers’ protests. Amid this turmoil, India’s World Press Freedom Index ranking fell to 142, reflecting the growing challenges faced by journalists.

Women journalists like Tanushree Pandey, Faye D’Souza, Rana Ayyub, Menaka Rao, and others became the voice of accountability, exposing injustices and holding authority to account.

Who are the journalists today you think continue to fearlessly report the truth, even in the toughest circumstances?
