“When data becomes power — the press loses its voice.”

The Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act is raising alarm bells across India’s media landscape.
With vague definitions and sweeping powers, the law threatens to turn press freedom into permission-based journalism.

Over 1,000 journalists from 23 media bodies, including Press Club of India (PCI), Indian Women Press Corps (IWPC), DIGIPUB, and Editors Guild of India, have demanded urgent clarification and journalistic exemptions from the government.

Their fear is real -
A Data Protection Board, controlled by the Centre, can impose penalties up to ₹250 crore, crippling media houses and silencing investigative voices.

🕊️ When fear replaces freedom, truth dies silently.
Journalism is not a threat — it’s the heartbeat of democracy.
Stand with the Media. Defend Press Freedom. Resist Data Overreach.
