As newsgames grow in popularity, media ethicists are raising alarms about the potential trivialization of serious journalism. While the core of any newsgame must be rigorous reporting and hard data, gamifying topics like communal riots or targeted violence risks reducing real human suffering to mere entertainment.

The Bharat Media Association stresses the need for strict editorial boundaries. Gamified reporting must exclusively serve to enhance empathy and systemic understanding, never exploiting tragic events just to boost interactive engagement metrics.
