In a notable decision reinforcing accountability, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has refused to quash a forgery FIR registered against a government officer, following a complaint filed by a journalist. The court observed that the allegations raised by the journalist warranted due investigation and that the process of law must take its course. The decision is being seen as a boost for press freedom and a reminder that no individual, regardless of position, is above scrutiny.

According to reports, the journalist had accused the officer of tampering with official records to conceal information of public interest. While the officer sought to dismiss the FIR as baseless, the court found enough grounds to allow the investigation to proceed.

Media professionals have hailed the ruling as a victory for truth and transparency, underscoring that the role of journalists in exposing irregularities is vital for a healthy democracy. The verdict, they say, sends a strong message  that justice stands firm when truth speaks without fear.
