The Odisha government has sanctioned ₹2,500 crore for major infrastructure development projects in rural areas under the Biju Setu Yojana and Rural Roads Scheme. The funds will be used to build new bridges, repair existing ones, and improve connectivity to remote villages across districts like Kalahandi, Rayagada, and Gajapati. This step aims to strengthen the rural economy by ensuring smooth transport of agricultural goods and better access to schools and hospitals. With monsoon approaching, priority will also be given to flood-prone zones. Officials have stated that the tendering process will begin next month, with a target completion timeline of 18–24 months.
