📰 Karnataka Media: Recent Developments and Progress

Karnataka has been actively shaping the media landscape with several important steps and initiatives in 2025. From digital regulation to recognition of journalistic excellence, here's what’s new:

📱 Digital Media Guidelines Introduced

Karnataka has become the first Indian state to introduce official digital advertising guidelines. Named the Digital Advertising Guidelines 2024, this policy outlines how the government can engage with citizens via platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.

This is a major step toward using social media and digital platforms to promote government schemes and public awareness more transparently and professionally. It also opens opportunities for content creators and digital journalists to collaborate with the state on campaigns.

🎥 Bengaluru International Film Festival 2025

The 16th edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes) took place from March 1 to 8, 2025. With over 200 films from 60+ countries, the event served as a vibrant platform for media, filmmakers, journalists, and cinephiles alike.

Hosted by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, with full support from the state government, this event boosted both global film culture and regional media exposure.

🏆 Journalists Honored by Karnataka Media Academy

The Karnataka Media Academy recently awarded veteran journalist S.R. Ramakrishna with a Lifetime Achievement Award. This move shows the state's commitment to recognizing ethical, long-term contributions in journalism and promoting professional standards in media.

📢 Karnataka Budget & Media Welfare

In the 2025–26 state budget, the Karnataka government allocated over ₹51,000 crore towards welfare schemes, many of which indirectly benefit the media sector, including awareness programs and public outreach initiatives.

A portion of the budget also supports minority communities and women-led initiatives, enabling inclusive media coverage and community storytelling.

📊 State Exam Results Gain Media Spotlight

Karnataka's SSLC exam results 2025 received wide coverage, especially highlighting how girls outperformed boys by a notable margin of 15.3%. This sparked conversations in media circles around education equity, girl child empowerment, and the role of journalism in amplifying such stories.

Karnataka’s media environment is evolving with a balanced focus on digital expansion, creative expression, and ethical journalism. The state is setting an example for others to embrace media as a partner in development.
