Nagrota Intrusion Foiled; India Responds Firmly to Ceasefire Violations Amid Tensions

An attempted intrusion at the Nagrota Military Station was thwarted thanks to the alertness of a night sentry, according to a statement released by the Indian Army's White Knight Corps. The incident led to a brief exchange of fire, during which the sentry sustained minor injuries. A search operation is currently underway to locate the suspect.

"On noticing suspicious movement near the perimeter, the alert sentry at Nagrota Military Station issued a challenge, leading to a brief exchange of fire with the suspect. The sentry sustained a minor injury. Search operations are underway to track the intruder(s)," said the White Knight Corps in a post on X.

Precautionary Blackouts in Punjab

In a related development, several districts in Punjab, including Pathankot, Ludhiana, Moga, Ferozepur, and Jalandhar, experienced a complete blackout on the evening of May 10 (Saturday). The Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar clarified that the measure was precautionary, urging citizens to remain calm.

"Due to recent news in the media and as a precautionary measure, we are turning off street lights in some parts of Jalandhar. Blackout is not called at this time. Please be calm as Jalandhar is unaffected at this point," the official statement said.

India Condemns Ceasefire Violations by Pakistan

Amid heightened security concerns, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that Pakistan had violated a ceasefire understanding reached earlier that day between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations.

"This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today. Our armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations, and we take very, very serious note of them," said Misri at a special briefing.

He added that the Indian Armed Forces have been instructed to respond strongly and decisively to any further violations along the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC).

"We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility. The armed forces are maintaining a strong vigil on the situation."

Background: India’s Operation Sindoor

These developments follow India’s launch of Operation Sindoor on May 7, a calculated military response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. As part of the operation, India targeted nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

In retaliation, Pakistan escalated tensions by resorting to unprovoked artillery fire and the use of drones along the border. The situation remains tense, with Indian forces maintaining high alert and readiness to counter any further aggression.

India continues to emphasize its zero-tolerance stance on terrorism and has warned of serious consequences in response to any further ceasefire violations or intrusions.
