IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Goa: Rain, Strong Winds Expected
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for Goa, predicting light to moderate rainfall along with strong winds in both North and South Goa. Wind speeds are expected to range between 30–40 km/h, with gusts possibly reaching up to 50 km/h within the next 1 to 3 hours.
These weather conditions may lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, slippery roads, and temporary disruptions in traffic flow.
Residents are advised to:
-
Stay alert and limit unnecessary travel.
-
Secure loose outdoor items that could be displaced by the winds.
-
Exercise caution near water bodies, especially fishermen and small boat operators, due to rough sea conditions.
This advisory comes as pre-monsoon weather patterns strengthen along India’s western coast. With the monsoon season fast approaching, such conditions could impact daily routines, transport systems, and outdoor activities.
The IMD urges all citizens to remain updated on further developments and take necessary precautions to stay safe during this transitional weather phase.
