Islands Women's Rugby Team Shines at National Rugby Sevens Championship in Assam

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Women's Rugby Football Team delivered a stellar performance at the ongoing National Rugby Sevens Championship in Guwahati, Assam. Demonstrating exceptional skill and teamwork, the team registered two impressive victories—defeating Pondicherry by 5 goals and overpowering Andhra Pradesh by 2 goals.

The thrilling wins not only boosted the team's morale but also showcased the rising talent from the Islands in the national rugby arena.

Meanwhile, the Men’s team from the Islands is set to take the field on April 27, 2025, and expectations are high as they gear up to continue the momentum.

Shri Mohd. H. Jadwet, Chairman of the Rugby Football Association of A&N Islands, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the women's team for their outstanding achievements. In a press release issued by the Andaman and Nicobar State Olympic Association (ANSOA), he praised the players’ dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence.

He further expressed hope that both the women's and men's teams would continue to bring pride to the Islands through their sporting efforts.
