The CBI launched raids on July 12 in Nagaland (Lumami), Assam (Jorhat), and Tripura (Agartala), probing allegations against Nagaland University professor Chitta Ranjan Deb. Accused of bribery and tender irregularities while heading the IQAC and School of Sciences, Deb allegedly favoured vendors in scientific supply contracts. Documents recovered reportedly show significant financial mismanagement. The investigation signals intensified scrutiny on academic procurement processes and university transparency.
