Haryana Cracks Down on Illegal Abortions: Two Doctors' Licenses Suspended, Three Arrested in Gurugram
Gurugram, [Date] – In a major crackdown on unlawful medical practices, Haryana health authorities have suspended the licenses of two doctors and arrested three individuals for allegedly distributing Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) kits without proper authorization.
The action follows a coordinated investigation into the illegal sale and misuse of abortion drugs in the region. According to officials, the arrested individuals were found violating provisions of the MTP Act, with some operating without medical qualifications or necessary approvals.
“This is part of an ongoing effort to curb illegal abortions and protect women’s health and safety,” said a senior health department official. “Strict action will continue against those flouting the law and compromising ethical medical practices.”
The state government has directed district administrations to intensify monitoring of pharmacies, clinics, and medical practitioners to prevent the unauthorized distribution of abortion-related medication.
Further investigation is underway, and more arrests may follow as authorities expand the probe.
